SLEDGE-PROJECT Uummanatsiaq, Greenland. Two sledges that can be towed with dogs or a snowmobile over the sea-ice. The houses are insulated and can be used for sitting, cooking and sleeping. Each sledge-house can accomodate about 6 people. Material: wood, insulation, perspex windows and traditionally build sledge. Commissioned by: Uummannaq Polar Institute / Ann Andreassen. Design by Rob Sweere. Production by René Kristensen/Children Home Uummannaq. Constructed on location by René Kristensen, Rob Sweere & the workers and children of the children home. august 2009. |
